LumoLabs is a non-commercial activity of photographer Falk Lumo and friends. It's main goal is to satisfy curiosity if not better testing methodologies and image processing algorithms cannot be found. LumoLabs does produce software, too.
The current range of produced tools spans noise measurements, state-of-the-art noise reduction, image recombination algorithms, a blazingly fast contrast autofocus algorithm, video-frame artifact elimination, resolution measurements and a new, pixel-independent approach to measure image quality. LumoLabs was the first to accurately measure and publish the excellent dynamic range of the Pentax K-x camera, a result later verified by DxOLabs. In 2009, Falk was one of ten alpha testers selected by Pentax Germany for the then new K-7 camera.
Besides being a photographer, Falk Lumo has a scientific background holding a Ph.D. in Theoretical Physics.
